Vodafone enlists Twitter users to build coverage map

Vodafone enlists Twitter users to build coverage map: "

Twitter users can now help build a real time map of Vodafone’s network coverage by tweeting their mobile phone’s current signal strength and location. Read on for the full lowdown on Vodafone’s user-generated coverage map.

If you’re a Vodafone customer and Twitter user you can contribute to the coverage map by tweeting the hashtag #vodafonesignal then following it up with your location (address or GPS coordinates), the type of connection you’re using (3G, EDGE or GPRS), the number of bars on your signal strength meter, whether you’re indoors or outdoors and which model handset you’re using.

Non-tweeters can contribute by adding a similar signal report to the “Not On Twitter?” section of the online Vodafone UK Signal Map. This map will be updated live to give a picture of the current state of Vodafone’s coverage, so you should know where to expect a good signal – and where to expect a whole heap of slowness.

Vodafone has released a video to demonstrate exactly what you need to do if you want to contribute:
